We had an incredible time volunteering in Iringa and it quickly became one of the highlights of our trip.
After arriving in Tanzania and making our way to Iringa, we settled into the volunteer house and got started on our project. We spent our first few weeks at a daycare and kindergarten before moving to another school, where we felt we could make an even bigger impact supporting both the teachers and students.

What stood out most was how welcoming everyone was. We loved getting to know the local community, spending time with the teachers, and building connections with the children. Every day felt rewarding, and no two days were ever the same.

The volunteer house was another highlight. As more volunteers arrived, the atmosphere became even more social and fun. Everyone was there for a similar reason, which made it easy to make friends and feel part of the group straight away.
We enjoyed the experience so much that we even extended our stay by an extra week.

Looking back, volunteering gave us so much more than we expected. We made lifelong memories, met amazing people, experienced a different side of Tanzania, and genuinely felt like we were making a positive contribution.
If you're considering volunteering in Tanzania, we'd absolutely recommend it. And if you're travelling solo, it's worth checking if other volunteers will be there at the same time, it makes an already great experience even better.
We already miss Iringa and would do it all again in a heartbeat.
